Alcohol Restrictions Apply - Alcohol is prohibited from the Huron picnic area from April 1 through September 30 without the written authorization of the park manager.If a shelter is not reserved, it is available for any patron. Regular fishing rules apply the rest of the year. From April 1, when a two-mile stretch of the Huron River is stocked with trout, until the last Saturday in April, catch and release rules apply.

  • Fishing - Great catches of rainbow and brown trout await the angler.
  • Hunting is allowed west of Wixom Road and north of the Huron River. Rabbit, squirrel, deer and grouse are among the wildlife hunted, each having its own designated season.

    A schedule of upcoming programs is available at the park office year-round or at the campground office during the summer months. Guided interpretive walks and other nature activities are offered. In the spring, hepatica, marsh marigold, violets and many other wildflowers abound. During the winter months, skiers can enjoy seeing the evergreens draped with snow. More than 20 miles of trails cover several diverse habitats. Proud Lake Recreation Area, with more than 4,700 acres, is located on the scenic Huron River in Oakland County and offers diverse and plentiful recreational opportunities. Admission to the Recreation Area is included the Michigan Department of Natural Resources State Park membership. A campground office is open during summer months. The recreation area has a total area of 4,700 acres and it offers various outdoor activities including hiking among 20 miles of hiking trails, cross-country skiing, fishing in the Huron River, hunting (in limited areas), canoing, and picnicking. Proud Lake Recreation Area, located in Commerce Township, Michigan is state park under the jurisdiction of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
